I'm Sarah Bartnicka. I'm a writer and editor based in Toronto, Canada.

I write Airplane Mode, a travel newsletter focusing on quality itineraries built on word-of-mouth recommendations, not algorithms, and Milk Bag, a newsletter on the culture of Bay Street and business. I am also the editor of The Peak, Canada's most-read daily business newsletter.

I am also the former co-host of Free Lunch, a weekly economics podcast featuring guests including Columbia Business School professor Brett House, BlackRock investment strategist Kurt Reiman, and Airbnb Co-Founder Nathan Blecharczyk. In 2023, The Peak sold for $5M.

I have worked in-house for BMO Capital Markets and Stikeman Elliott and as a consultant at Edelman supporting corporate clients across the U.S. and Canada, including BlackRock, the BDC, and TD Bank. I also teach an editorial writing course at Miami Ad School in Toronto.

Start-ups and established companies often tap me to help better connect with their audiences by telling better stories, through brand and content. Past clients include The Hustle, Mercury Bank, Radical Ventures, Stikeman Elliott, Riven, Royal LePage, Caffinate, and DrinkU.  

I've recently written about how holiday office parties are out, the rise in "sober" culture, and the problem of food waste in Ontario.
